add `include_in_photo_index` and `include_in_music_index` policies
both true for default personal drive
photo is implemented
music is not yet implemented
initially the recent was done client side
recent files are now directly updated on serverside when accessing a file
note: nextcloud and webdav voluntary not included
Mounts are now browsable and downloadable over both WebDAV surfaces
(/webdav/ and NextCloud /remote.php/dav) and NextCloud clients. The work
funnels through the path-based service methods all three surfaces already use,
so both WebDAV handlers gain mount support with no handler changes.
- get_folder_by_path / get_file_by_path resolve a path that descends past a
mount root to a synthetic ext: DTO (the mount root itself stays a real row)
- list_folders_paginated_with_perms / list_files_batch_with_perms branch to the
provider, so PROPFIND Depth:1 enumerates mount directory contents in both
WebDAV handlers
- get_file_stream / get_file_range_stream branch ext: file ids to the provider,
so WebDAV GET streams mount content (Pin<Box<dyn Stream>> re-boxed)
- router injected into FileRetrievalService; new MountRouter::find_path delegates
to the registry's (drive_id, mount_path) index
- WebDAV mkdir/delete/move/rename by path work via path→ext:id→the P2 service
methods (no extra wiring)
Fixes a leading-slash normalization bug in the registry path index: materialized
folder paths arrive both as `Personal/Media` and `/Personal/Media`; keys and
lookups now normalize the leading slash (would have broken real WebDAV paths).
Known follow-up: WebDAV PUT (upload/update by path) still ingests to the CAS;
streaming a WebDAV PUT straight to the provider needs a pre-ingest branch in the
two WebDAV PUT handlers (mirrors the REST upload branch).
Integration test: get_folder_by_path/get_file_by_path resolution, PROPFIND
Depth:1 folder+file listing, and content streaming on a real mount + Postgres.
Adds full CRUD on mount contents, mirroring the P1 read pattern (handlers/
services classify; authorization stays in the service via the mount-root
folder grant; the provider does the I/O).
- mkdir / rename / delete / move-within branch inside FolderService and
FileManagementService (router injected into both)
- streaming upload via a new ExternalUploadService: the upload handler detects a
mount destination BEFORE the CAS ingest and streams the multipart body
straight to the provider (no BLAKE3/dedup). `write_stream` now takes a
lifetime-bound boxed stream so the borrowing multipart field can be passed
without buffering.
- deletes on mounts are permanent (no trash): the trash-first folder handler
routes `ext:` ids straight to the provider delete; file delete goes through the
branched delete_and_cleanup
- cross-backend move/copy (mount ↔ native, or between mounts) is forbidden
(UnsupportedOperation); the mount root itself cannot be renamed/moved/deleted
- every mutation emits a `target:"audit" event="external_mount.write"` line
- shared mount_dto builders synthesize FolderDto/FileDto from a provider MountStat
Tests: 529 unit + integration tests for mkdir/rename/delete, file rename/delete,
streaming upload, cross-boundary forbid, and stranger-denied — all against real
Postgres + a real provider (testcontainers).
Adds the foundation for external file mounts: admin-configured backends
(raw host filesystem in v1; sftp/webdav/… as future provider kinds) surfaced
as a folder inside a user's drive. Mount contents are virtual/live-passthrough
— read straight from the backend, never stored in storage.files — and are a
deliberately separate, limited storage type (no dedup/sharing/trash/search).
The feature is dark by default (OXICLOUD_ENABLE_EXTERNAL_MOUNTS=false).
P1 scope (this PR): data model, the pluggable provider abstraction, and the
read-only REST surface (mount listing + download). Read-write (P2),
WebDAV/NextCloud path resolution (P3), and the admin UI (P4) follow.
Core model
- Mount root = a real storage.folders row; authorization for everything inside
collapses onto that folder UUID (ltree-ancestry grant cascade).
- Children are virtual, addressed by ext:<mount_id>:<base64url(node_id)> where
node_id is provider-owned and opaque to the rest of the system.
- A lock-free (arc-swap) MountRegistry maps mount-root UUID -> provider; a thin
MountRouter::classify() is the single cheap hook handlers call before parsing
an id as a UUID. With no mounts configured it always returns Regular, so
existing code paths are unchanged.
Added
- migrations/20260805000000_external_mounts.sql (storage.external_mounts, kind + config JSONB)
- domain/services/external_mount_id (id envelope + virtual etags)
- application/ports/external_mount_ports (ExternalMountProvider, MountProviderFactory, repo port)
- infrastructure local_fs_mount_provider (tokio::fs, symlink-escape-safe) + factory
- application MountRegistry + MountRouter, pg ExternalMountRepository
- DI wiring (AppState.mount_router), FeaturesConfig.enable_external_mounts
- listing branch (FolderService::list_mount_dir_with_perms + folder_handler) and
download branch (FileRetrievalService stat/open mount methods + file_handler)
Authorization stays in the service layer (authz.require(Resource::Folder(mount_id)));
handlers only classify. Cross-backend operations are out of scope for P1.
Tests: 529 unit tests + 5 testcontainers integration tests (real Postgres 17),
including end-to-end authorization (owner allowed, stranger denied). Line
coverage of the new modules is 84–100% (cargo-llvm-cov). Known gap:
file_handler::download_mount_file (HTTP glue) needs a full-app test (P4).
- quota per drive
- add 2 internal API endpoints to test purpose
disabled by default, enable it via `OXICLOUD_ENABLE_ADMIN_INTERNAL_ENDPOINTS=true`
this enable:
/api/admin/internal/trigger-sweep
to sweep the trash and recalculated quota
/api/admin/internal/trigger-gc
to garbage orphan blobs
use full for end to end tests and validate lifecycles
- permit shared drive creation from oxicloud admin (for now)
- prepare other personal drive creation (Not implemented), need to validate
quota policies and strategy first
- add hurl test to verify permissions
OptimizedFileContent::Mmap was constructed nowhere — the documented "Tier 2:
memory-mapped I/O (10-100 MB)" path was never wired, so optimized_inner only
ever returns Bytes (<10 MB) or Stream (>=10 MB). The variant survived only as
an enum case plus two dead match arms in the file and share download handlers.
Remove the variant and its arms, and fix the now-misleading retrieval-service
tier docs (everything >=10 MB streams via CDC chunk reassembly with the
backend read-ahead; there is no mmap tier). Behaviour is unchanged — the
deleted arms were unreachable.

OIDC SSO login intermittently ended on a 403 "Invalid or expired OIDC state
— possible CSRF attack" even though the login had already succeeded
server-side.
Root cause: the (now-removed) legacy vanilla-JS frontend registered a
`/sw.js` service worker that, with navigation preload enabled, double-fetched
the top-level navigation to `/api/auth/oidc/callback`. The OIDC `state` is
single-use, so the first callback consumed it and logged the user in while
the duplicate (~0.4s later) found the state gone and returned the 403 the
browser rendered.
Backend — idempotent callback: after a successful web login, remember
`state -> exchange_code` in a short-lived (120s) cache. A duplicate callback
whose state was already consumed now replays that same redirect instead of
403-ing, returning the cached result directly without re-running the IdP code
exchange (the authorization `code` is single-use too). Keyed by the
unguessable 32-byte state, so it adds no new attack surface and fixes the 403
for everyone — including browsers still running a stale legacy service worker.
Frontend — evict the stale worker: the current SvelteKit app registers no
service worker, so fresh clients can't double-fire. But a browser that
previously loaded the legacy frontend still has `/sw.js` registered and
controlling pages (and `/sw.js` now 404s, so vendor self-cleanup is
inconsistent). killLegacyServiceWorker() runs first in the root layout's
onMount: it surgically unregisters only `/sw.js` workers, drops only the
legacy `oxicloud-cache-*` caches, and reloads once (guarded).
Fixes#510.

An audit (backend /api routes vs SvelteKit frontend usage, adversarially
verified across the whole repo) found these 5 routes have ZERO callers — no
frontend, no test, no protocol layer, no internal caller — and are superseded:
- GET /api/folders/paginated no-op duplicate of GET /api/folders
(discards the page arg); superseded by
the cursor-paginated /{id}/resources.
- POST /api/dedup/upload superseded by /api/files/upload, which
does the identical CDC dedup ingest.
- POST /api/people/{id}/hide the hide-person toggle was never built
into the UI (is_hidden never read).
- GET /api/admin/settings/general never called anywhere.
- GET /api/admin/settings/registration only the PUT is used; the GET had no
caller (PUT kept).
Removes each route, its handler + _impl, the now-orphaned DedupUploadResponse
DTO + its two serialization tests, the set_hidden service method (only caller
was hide_person), and the OpenAPI path/schema registrations.
Also cleans 4 stale markers: two #[allow(deprecated)] that no longer suppress
anything (zero #[deprecated] remain), the "Legacy folder endpoints (contents,
listing)" comment (both already removed), and a "Re-export AppError for backward
compatibility" comment describing a re-export that doesn't exist.
Net -323 lines. The 31 other unused-by-frontend routes (device-code auth,
CardDAV contact-groups, people/photos & music WIP, dedup/admin debug, i18n,
openapi.json) are intentional surface and were left untouched.
cargo clippy --all-features --all-targets -D warnings: clean. cargo test: 446 passed.

Backend — tail latency & throughput:
- FileContentCache, image transcode, and search now use moka single-flight
(try_get_with / get_or_load) so N concurrent misses for the same key
collapse to one disk read / transcode / query instead of a thundering herd.
Microbenchmark (128 concurrent on one hot key): 128 loads / p99 ~1023ms
before vs 1 load / p99 ~32ms after.
- DB: configurable per-statement timeout on the primary pool
(OXICLOUD_DB_STATEMENT_TIMEOUT_SECS, default 30; maintenance pool exempt) so
a runaway query can't pin a connection and starve the pool.
- DB: background pool-saturation monitor
(OXICLOUD_DB_POOL_MONITOR_INTERVAL_SECS) that WARNs as the primary pool nears
exhaustion — the early signal before tail latency cliffs.
- mimalloc: set MIMALLOC_PURGE_DELAY=0 (Dockerfile + compose) so freed pages
return to the OS and RSS tracks the live working set; benchmarked on
musl/aarch64 at ~400MB reclaimed vs 0MB with the default.
Frontend — UI / i18n fixes:
- i18n: fix literal "{{count}}" and "{{percentage}}/{{used}}/{{total}}" in the
selection toolbar and storage line — the call sites passed param names that
didn't match the locale placeholders; unify on `count` and pass the storage
template its params. Add es files.selected_count.
- sidebar: hide the drive picker when there's only one drive (the redundant
"Personal" row); remove the coloured left accent on the active nav item.
- logo: stop clipping the cloud's left bulge — viewBox recentred on the cloud's
true bbox with proportional SVG size so it keeps the same rendered scale.
- user menu: drop the default <a> underline on the link rows.

The folder listing now carries the favorite/share badge state for exactly the
items it returns, so the files browser stops fetching favorites and outgoing
shares separately. This removes the last per-navigation badge round-trips AND
fixes the correctness hole of the previous approaches: badges were derived from
only the first 200 global favorites / shares, so a favorited or shared item
outside that window showed no badge. Now every listed item is correct, and the
work is scoped to the items on screen.
Backend (`GET /api/folders/{id}/listing`):
- `FolderListingDto` gains `favorite_ids` and `shared_ids` (sorted) — listing-
level metadata, so no churn to the many FileDto/FolderDto constructors.
- The handler computes both with two batched, index-backed queries run
concurrently: `FavoritesService::favorited_ids` (auth.user_favorites, ANY) and
`PgAclEngine::shared_resource_ids` (storage.role_grants by granted_by + ANY,
which already covers public links as 'token' grants — same membership the
/grants/outgoing/resources endpoint exposes). Both fold into the ETag.
- Public-share browsing passes empty sets (anonymous, read-only context).
Frontend:
- `listFolder` reads `favorite_ids` / `shared_ids`; the files view seeds local
badge sets straight from the listing and updates them optimistically on
favorite toggle / batch / share creation (via ShareDialog's `onshared`).
- Removes the session `badges` store + its fetches entirely — the listing is now
the single, authoritative, fetch-free source.
Net: favorite/share badges cost zero extra client requests per navigation and
are correct regardless of how many favorites/shares the user has. Validated:
cargo check + clippy -D warnings (backend; integration tests need Postgres,
unavailable here), frontend npm run check + unit tests, and a headless render of
the real files route (list + grid) with the new flags present — no errors.

remove create_home_folder() & ensure_home_folder()
now: on_user_created() and on_user_login both() call provision_if_needed()
which calls **create_personal_drive_atomic()**
add a helper to find Personal drive for a user and also it's root directorry
Bring chroot to nextcloud capability: login on Nextcloud via username="{user}~{folder-uuid}
Doing a such login will chroot the folder folder-uuid
If user has several folder as root (parent=None), the login flow will request which
folder user want to chroot
now Drive is purely a metadata
each drive has always a root folder
this model minimize Oxicloud changes, and simplify
the Drive name is simply the folder's root's name
note: owner of Drive has more permission that an owner of the root folder
Phase 2 increment 4:
- recluster(user): union-find connected-components over the user's face
embeddings (cosine threshold); groups of >= min_faces become persons, and
an existing person's name is preserved across reclusters. O(n^2) — fine
for moderate libraries; an ANN index is the documented scale-up.
- caller_id-scoped use cases for the HTTP layer: list_people (non-empty
clusters, cover thumbnail, most-photographed first), person_photos,
faces_for_file, rename, hide, merge, and delete_all (right to erasure).

Three list endpoints resolved each resource with one query per id:
- GET /api/grants/incoming and /api/grants/outgoing used
join_all(ids.map(get_file)) + join_all(ids.map(get_folder)), so a single
page (limit ≤ 200) could demand ~200 concurrent connections from the
20-connection primary pool, causing acquire-timeouts and head-of-line
blocking under load.
- The NextCloud favorites REPORT (oc:filter-files) fetched get_file/
get_folder once per favorite — up to N serial round-trips per sync.
Add by-ids batch reads that mirror the existing get_file/get_folder column
mapping and NOT is_trashed filter:
- FileBlobReadRepository::get_files_by_ids / FolderDbRepository::get_folders_by_ids
(one SELECT ... WHERE id = ANY($1)), exposed as FileRetrievalService::
get_files_by_ids / FolderService::get_folders_by_ids returning DTOs.
- Both grant handlers and the favorites REPORT now issue two batch queries
total and look results up by id, preserving original order. Missing ids
(stale grants whose resource was deleted, or trashed/removed favorites)
drop out exactly as before. No auth-semantics change: these paths already
resolved ids vetted by the authorization engine / favorites table.

Phase 1 server side, gated on OXICLOUD_ENABLE_PLACES (off by default):
- migration: partial index on storage.file_metadata(longitude, latitude).
- FileBlobReadRepository::list_geo_clusters — plain-SQL grid aggregation
(no PostGIS) scoped to the caller's own non-trashed photos, returning a
centroid, count and a representative file id per non-empty cell.
- PlacesService (caller_id-scoped; user-scoped data needs no authz check,
mirroring RecentService) with a zoom→cell-size mapping.
- GET /api/photos/geo?bbox=w,s,e,n&zoom=N returning GeoCluster[]. The route
is mounted only when the Places service is present, and is registered in
the OpenAPI path list.
The map frontend (PMTiles serving + MapLibre module) is deferred pending
the basemap-sourcing and vendoring decision.

Deduplication GC (garbage_collect, Phase 2):
- Add an orphan grace period before a ref_count=0 blob's backing file is
physically deleted, mirroring git's gc.pruneExpire. New
storage.blobs.orphaned_at records when a blob last reached ref_count 0;
the delete trigger and every decrement / 0-ref insert path stamp it,
every re-reference clears it.
- Cross-check that no manifest lists the chunk and no file points at the
blob before deleting it (mirrors Phase 1's file check), so a stale
ref_count can only delay collection, never delete live content.
- Unlink the backing files with bounded parallel fan-out.
Together these close a TOCTOU where a concurrent upload of identical
content could re-reference a chunk in the window between the GC row
delete committing and the backing file being unlinked. Individual file
deletes still reclaim eagerly; only bulk empty-trash and the periodic
sweep observe the grace window.
Trash: match ErrorKind::NotFound instead of substring-matching the error
message when treating an already-deleted item as success.
Content-index worker: supervise the drain loop and restart it with
backoff after a panic, instead of letting a panic silently freeze the
search index while the dirty queue grows unbounded.
Adds migration 20260802000000_blob_gc_grace.sql and an integration test
covering the grace window and reference cross-checks.

Threads `new_name: Option<&str>` through FileWritePort::copy_file and
FileManagementUseCase::copy_file_with_perms so a same-folder
COPY /a.txt → /b.txt picks up the destination name via a single
COALESCE($3::text, name) in the CTE. Without it the new row inherits
the source's filename and collides on the (folder_id, name, user_id)
unique index — the "Already Exists" 500 M8 was hitting.
handle_copy in the native WebDAV surface now passes
`(file.name != dest_name).then(|| dest_name.into())`, keeping the
"same name in a different folder" case at None so existing semantics
are preserved.
After every upload, maybe_update_storage_usage spawned a full
`SUM(size) OVER all the user's non-trashed files` to refresh
auth.users.storage_used_bytes — O(N) in the user's file count per upload,
i.e. O(N²) for a bulk upload. (The covering index makes it index-only but
still scans N rows.)
Replace it with an O(1) incremental `storage_used_bytes += size`, keyed by the
file's owner_id (dropping the brittle "My Folder - <user>" path-parsing hack).
Deletes/trash never decremented this value — they already rely on the periodic
reconciliation sweep — so the model is unchanged: the sweep remains the
correctness backstop for every mutation, and the counter is clamped at 0.
Both stay fire-and-forget on a background task, off the upload's latency path.
Benchmarked (per-call, vs the user's existing file count N):
N=1k: full-SUM 202us vs incremental 123us
N=10k: full-SUM 1185us vs incremental 113us (10x)
N=50k: full-SUM 5397us vs incremental 114us (47x — incremental is flat O(1))
Bulk upload of 10k files (insert + usage update each):
full-SUM (O(N²)) 10.37s -> incremental (O(N)) 4.89s (>2x, diverges with scale)

FileContentCache (moka, 512 MiB) was keyed by the file UUID, so content that
the CDC store already deduplicates to ONE blob on disk was cached once PER
FILE in RAM: N files sharing a blob held N copies, all counting against the
512 MiB cap. With effective dedup the cache filled with duplicates and
thrashed.
Key it by the blob hash instead (already on FileDto::content_hash):
- The in-RAM cache now benefits from dedup like the disk does — each distinct
blob is cached once and shared across every file/user that references it,
so a download by user A warms the cache for user B's identical content.
- Content is immutable by hash, so entries never go stale; the existing
invalidate(file_id) calls become harmless no-ops (a UUID never matches a
hash key) and can be removed in a later cleanup.
- ETag is now the immutable content hash (strong validator).
- Guarded: a hash-less stub DTO disables caching for that request rather than
colliding every such file on the empty key.
Response Content-Type still comes from the DTO, not the cache, so keying does
not affect the served MIME (verified).
Benchmark (real moka, exact 512 MiB/weight config, 400 files x 4 MiB = 1600 MiB
working set, 4000 uniform-random accesses):
dedup 1x : file_id 35.8% hit / 2568 reads vs hash 35.6% / 2577 (no dedup -> no change; control)
dedup 5x : file_id 35.8% hit / 2570 reads vs hash 98.0% / 80 (32x fewer disk reads, RAM 512->320 MiB)
dedup 20x: file_id 35.1% hit / 2596 reads vs hash 99.5% / 20 (130x fewer disk reads, RAM 512->80 MiB)
The win scales with the dedup ratio; with no dedup it is a no-op.

Pre-existing in the delta-upload service: Rust 1.93's stricter large_enum_variant lint flags the FileDto-carrying Done variant (the sibling variant is tiny). The value is short-lived (one per commit), so silence the lint rather than box FileDto and complicate every call site. Keeps the CI clippy -D warnings gate green.

Both sides added a parameter to create_application_services and a
setup step before it: this branch's storage-usage/quota service (for
the instant-upload path) and main's Tantivy content index (for
SearchService). The resolution keeps both — the signature takes both
arguments and the build runs storage usage as step 3c and the content
index as 3d.
https://claude.ai/code/session_01WdNenpnujNR2sc32XVvwfS
Phase 3 of the delta-sync plan — the inverse direction, so a future
client app holding an older local version can fetch only what changed:
- GET /api/files/{id}/manifest returns the file's chunk recipe
({file_hash, total_size, chunks}). Owner-scoped like the rest of the
delta surface (Read permission through the authz engine first, then
the chunk layer's possession standard; shared files use the regular
download endpoints). A manifest is immutable for a given file_hash,
so it is served with ETag = file_hash and If-None-Match answers 304 —
polling sync clients pay one header round-trip per unchanged file.
Legacy pre-CDC blobs are presented as a single-chunk manifest of
themselves, so clients need no special case.
- POST /api/files/delta/download streams the requested chunks as
[u32 BE length][bytes] frames in request order — the same wire format
the upload direction uses. Entitlement is the same possession rule as
negotiate/commit (chunks reachable through the caller's own files);
anything else returns 404 {not_available} — deliberately
indistinguishable from "never existed" — with a
delta_download.rejected audit event. Batches are bounded by the
chunk_max_bytes budget; Content-Length is exact (sizes come from the
dedup index) and peak RAM is one backend read frame.
Both endpoints share the delta rate limiter. New DedupService
primitives: manifest_chunk_list (with legacy fallback), chunk_sizes,
chunk_stream. OpenAPI regenerated; protocol doc gains the download
section; types.js maps the new wire shapes (plus the delta-upload
typedefs that a container reset had silently dropped from a previous
commit).
Verified end-to-end against PostgreSQL 16 with a simulated two-device
sync: device A uploaded 24 MB by bytes and delta-updated it (2 edits →
2 chunks); device B diffed the manifest against its WASM-chunked local
copy, needed 2/79 chunks, fetched 970 KB instead of 24 MB (96.1%
saved) and rebuilt the file byte-identical with the BLAKE3 verifying.
If-None-Match revalidation returned 304; a second user got 404 on both
the manifest and the chunk batch (with the not_available list and
audit lines); an unknown hash was indistinguishable from a denied one;
an empty hash list returned 400.
